PTA Mission, Vision and Values

Our local PTA works to uphold the mission and vision of the National PTA.  The mission of the PTA is:

  • "A powerful voice for all children.
  • A relevant resource for families and communities.
  • A strong advocate for the education and well-being of every child."

The PTA vision is to make "every child's potential a reality."  The core values of the PTA are as follows:

  • "Collaboration: We work in partnership with a wide array of individuals and organizations to accomplish our agreed-upon goals.
  • Commitment: We are dedicated to promoting children’s health, well-being, and educational success through strong parent, family, and community involvement.
  • Accountability: We acknowledge our obligations. We deliver on our promises.
  • Respect: We value our colleagues and ourselves. We expect the same high quality of effort and thought from ourselves as we do from others.
  • Inclusively: We invite the stranger and welcome the newcomer. We value and seek input from as wide a spectrum of viewpoints and experiences as possible.
  • Integrity: We act consistently with our beliefs. When we err, we acknowledge the mistake and seek to make amends."                                      Excerpts from the National PTA website

PTA Goals

Our local goals are to embrace the essence of the PTA and provide our membership a unique experience and opportunities that lead to the overall success of our students.  Working as a community, we can achieve our goals and truly ensure each child reaches their utmost potential.

Why Join the PTA?

"PTA is a grassroots organization made up of parents, teachers and others around the state who have a special interest in children, families and schools. PTA membership is as diverse as Texas is in cultures, education levels and parenting skills. By joining a PTA, a member automatically becomes part of the largest child-advocacy organization in the state — over 630,000 strong across Texas.

Studies have proven that membership in PTA provides your child and other children around you with a greater chance of achieving in school. As a PTA member, you are more likely to be an informed, involved parent. These are dangerous times for children. More than ever, it is important for parents to learn ways to keep children safe, trouble free and involved in school. PTA is the best place to gain that knowledge." Excerpt from the Texas PTA website.

Besides the above mentioned reasons to join, the National PTA offers members various benefits.  Click on PTA Benefits for more information.

How much does it cost to join the PTA?

The cost to join the PTA is $5.50 per adult or $10 per family. Honorary Life Membership Dues are $3 and available for individuals who have been awarded an Honorary Life Membership.
